Intellectual Property Rights for kids

The success and the development of nations are based on the degree of creativity of its people and the innovations they create in various fields. In oder to enhance creativity, the intellectual works and the creative people must be recognized. Here comes what is known as the Intellectual Property (IP) Rights.
The IP rights recognize the authenticity of the creative works and preserve the creators’ rights to commercialize their works for the help of the humanity. The IP rights protect all forms of creative works such as innovations, scientific researches, industry, art or literature, etc. …..
This program will encourage youth to get involved in creative activities and help them to understand the value of their works in terms of recognition and commercializing the results of their creative works. Moreover it will prepare them to understand how the global trades are done beyond import and export of goods. Specially since we live nowadays in a global and highly competitive market where innovations are the only key for survival and continuous improvements in quality and price reduction.
By Preparing both the youth and the school teachers in understanding the value of the intellectual and creative works, they will be encouraged to invent and create new pieces of Arts and generate income for them. Moreover it will help them in understanding the value of IP and citation while preparing assignments and researches.
This program is prepared with the focus on the youth between 10-18 years old, as well as for their teachers. The program is based on the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) materials which uses comics and booklets suitable for youth to provide the IP concepts in simple way based on the daily activities youth face. Such activities includes legal implications behind mp3, videos and software programs.

Innovation Incubators

Innovation Incubators

Creating the conditions to increase the success from innovation and turn research into successful Companies.

Original Air Date: 26 Aug 2010 hosted at Pure Insights

about this webinar

Innovation incubators are programmes designed to increase the success of innovative and entrepreneurial companies through the provision of a set of business support and services for projects / companies. Statistically start-up companies supported by incubators have more chances of staying in business after graduation from the incubators (which is about 87% chance of success).

In this session, Jamil Alkhatib will introduce the concept of innovation incubators and how they can help in increasing the success rate of new innovative projects as well as how they can act as a tool for job creation and innovation stimulation in local economies. Alkhatib will focus on the European approach of Innovation Incubators and some standards that are followed by them, and he will discuss the various models and roles of incubators and what kind of services incubators must offer if they are to succeed.

Managing an innovation incubator is not just like managing any other institutes; incubators deal with highly innovative projects that come mainly from technical people who strongly believe in their ideas. For that reason the presenter will show ‘what kind of activities?’ and ‘what support structures?’ are needed for the innovators and what kind of processes have to be developed for the incubation period.

The main reason to create an incubator is that innovative ideas usually come from technically skilled people. Many of who’m would like to try to start companies but lack the experience of managing such projects and marketing their innovations in the open market. Incubators support them in that. For that reason they have become a useful tool for both investors and large companies who establish them not only to stimulate innovations that will be useful to their business, but also to improve the quality of start-up and new innovative projects management.

Moreover incubators provide investors and large companies with better opportunities for innovations in which to invest. These projects are reviewed and supervised by experts to ensure their quality and the sustainability of their business. However, in order to ensure the success of incubators, a clear model and set of services must be defined which is based on both the objectives and the stake holders.

This Webinar will tackle the main issues related to incubator design and objectives, as well as the processes and services required to make them work effectively.
